Not nearly as strong a show as the following night, but the Eyes on 2/23 remains one of my favorite versions I've ever heard.

For reals! One of my desert island shows for sure. Contains my all-time favorite:

China>Rider
Morning Dew
Candyman
Baby Blue

The Cumberland, Ship of Fools, Row Jimmy and WRS are among my favorites as well, and there is not a weak moment in the whole show. It epitomizes everything I love about '74 GD. The whole band is completely in sync and at the top of their game, but of course Jerry shines above everyone (vocal-wise as well, the Jerry ballads are as good as they've ever sounded). Not to mention the stunning sound clarity of this CM source:

I think we can all find something to appreciate in that gem, Ringo.

This morning, I am grateful for this fine show (and perfect mastering by C. Miller), an unpolished gem.

Thanks Ringo, I needed that!
This was the last Here Comes Sunshine until 1992-12-06.

I agree with deniro 2-24 is the better show but this run kind of reminds me of the Winterland run from 11-73. Each night gets better and better, climaxing with 11-11 or 2-24, but the other shows are great shows that if they weren't topped the next night would always be in the discussion. As I said last week, I really hope if they decide to release anything from this run, they go for the 3 night boxed set.

As for 2-23 it has one of the best WRS>LIGs ever. Also gotta love all the Silpknot! teases that Jerry sprinkles through 2-22 and 2-23.

Yeah ... I wish I could get through it. I keep getting interrupted and have started the WRS>LIG over and over!

Ha ha. I hate it when that happens. Especially when it's my own fault. Sometimes a train of thought just comes along and I realize I've just missed something and have to get back to the start again. Good choice today. Thanks for the reminder. I have just had a busy few days at work and now a long weekend, so I think I'll put these two shows in my list. I'm also planning to try and fit in the Dream Bowl '69 shows, I started them the other day. This is what it's all about.

Yes, a couple of days ago someone was saying that he judged a show by the Mexicali - to listen after the first verse to see what Jerry does. Well, I meant to try it, but after I had started this one Mexicali over about 6 times, I finally gave up. Damn job ...

that Duke is still in the hunt for a number one seed - and continues to graduate players (yea - that's meant for Calhoun).

You know, I've tried again and again to like '74 and it just never happens. I'll give this a whirl. Worst vocal and drum sound in their career IMHO...

I had never listened to the night before(2/22/74) until yesterday. You hear so much about 2/23 and 2/24, yet I dont think I had ever heard 2/22 mentioned. I hopped in teh car and it was the TDIH chunk yesterday morning on GD channel.

Anyhow, 2/23 is definately my fav out of the run. Another fine candidate for yet another Winterland complete type of release.

These shows are so, so worth giving a listen. I have gone out of my way on occasion to listen to them all, but especially 2/24. I think I even mentioned Bill Graham's intro in another thread a while ago last year. I love the Dark Star > Morning Dew. Can't try to compare to anything else at the moment, just trying to relax after a LONG day working. OK, well, hard to compare Dark Star, but worth a listen for that fact alone. Who knows if it's the top 10 or not, but I love it. And what a Dew to sink it home.
